thanksHi just gone through this problem with a relative who died.
Its simple, the account is frozen and cannot be used except to pay funeral expenses, within 1 minute of the bank finding out about the death.
This seems to include standing orders and direct debits.
The account is then unfrozen when probate has been granted by the probate court, which can take many months.whats s .b stand for and i might be able to helpUsually the family will employ a solictor who will contact all the banks etc and make sure they're frozen. Before anyone can get any inheritance all bills etc have to be paid. This means that if someone dies then most of the time people waiting for payments etc will get paid, so long as the solicitor (or the executors of the will) are aware of it.SB stands for sugarbaby.....you wouldnt get anything unless he had a will set up for you......
It does not pay to be seedy, Hun
No matter what the circumstances, his family should be taken care of first, and then maybe you can work out something with his wife. You're not secretly planning a canoe trip are you? he he! forgive my sillyness I'm just still full of christmas cheer. They freeze accounts quicksmart! They do share information too. Speaking from personal experience, they froze our joint a/c and left me with an 11year old, a mortgage, household bills and no bloody food in the cupboard!, was about to go food shopping. So even though it was a joint a/c ie. half mine, I had no access to it! It completely depends on the circumstances whether they will release anything for any reason. All I can say is thank God for good neighbours and friends! who made sure we were OK! However my husband did die,not do a mysterious disappearance!
