Changing name on 401 plan?
My husband just recently passed away, besides all of the funeral expenses he left me in some deep debt. He had a 401 with Primerica, but never puy my name on it. We live in California. I haven't been able to connect with these people I'm am sure because of the holidays. What will I need to do to get this changed into my name and make a hardship withdraw to help with the expenses?His 401(k) account should have a beneficiary designated by name so it doesn't have to pass through probate. Check with the 401(k) plan custodian. Sorry for your loss.
