I'm 45, on disability, low income, never had credit, is it worth applying f

Should I apply for credit ? Is it foolish since my income is well below $20,000 a year and I'm on disability and my income isn't likely to change? I don't drive and never had credit even when I worked full time at a good job. Is it likely just to get me in debt buying things I can't afford? Thanks for any advice...If you have managed to get this far in life with out a credit card don't start now, they can be addictive and you start out with 0% or 2 or 3 % interest on the unpaid balance, if you miss one payment even if it is because the post office was slow, your rate goes up to 24.9% and you are stuck and paying minimum payments slowly puts you deeper in debt than uiying from Tennesee Ernie Fords, "Company Store" in the song "Sixteen Tons" "another day older and deeper in debt, I owe my soul to the company store......." You will definitely "Singing the Blues" before too long, you have accesss to a computer and look out QVC and EBay here comes another one who likes to talk to the delivery man because he hasn't seen another human this week...
Don't do it, don't do it.....it is an ugly trap....No.

The chances of you acquiring an unpayable amount of debt are very high.Don't even bother applying. with the current credit freeze, you probably can't qualify for more than a $500 card and that would be enough to run you even deeper into debt.Any unsecured debt(credit card) is not the kind of credit that is as valued as secured (home loan, auto loan) . If you get a credit card a low credit limit is better than a high limit; and it's best to pay the balance off in full every month. That all depends if you can keep your spending and paying it back under control.

Personally, though, if you can buy things either using your checking account or buy it with cash, I wouldn't bother with a credit card.

In your age right now, you should have established your financial condition long ago. Its sort of late to start trying to have a credit history, especially if you are under disability. Your income is fixed with no real aspects of increasing it.I believe you have waited long enough without a credit card. As long as your responsible credit cards can help out a lot in a jam.

To find the card that is right for you, I would recommend going to http://www.thebestfreecreditcards.com and choose the card that you like the most.
